Ten Ways to Tweak WP Themes

Mashable have written a nice article on the “Top 10 Ways to tweak Your WordPress Theme”.

The nice part is that even if you don’t understand they take you through the why you might want too and then show you how. Here are the 10 points

  1. Edit Your Theme’s CSS
  2. Display Post Excerpts or Full Content
  3. Create a Custom Page Template
  4. Crafting The Loop: Excluding/Including a Category
  5. Crafting Your Page Navigation the Easy Way
  6. Enabling Menu Management in WordPress 3.0
  7. Create a Simple Conditional Statement
  8. Add Post Thumbnails
  9. Add Something (Anything) to the End of Every Blog Post
  10. Add Google Analytics Tracking Code

WordPress Photo Themes

I’m an amateur photographer.

I don’t really think my pictures are that good and my wonderful wife thinks some of my pictures are fantastic – so she’s encouraged me to share these. Anyway, I’d love to be much better but that requires money for a decent semi-pro setup ….

So of course I needed a wordpress (what else?) theme that can handle photographs in a simple yet elegant way.

Some of the themes I’ve seen along the way look fabulous but the effort involved just to get a picture in and looking a part of the theme is beyond the time I have. But today I found a blog post listing 26 free wordpress photo gallery themes. I found one I liked and if you need one then you’ll probably find one too.

Enjoy.

Theme Developer, Wanted

I’m looking for someone, preferably for free, that can either totally develop or will greatly assist me in developing a theme for this blog.

I’m happy to go with what I’ve got for now, but I really would like to have my own theme and logo. So if any budding WP theme developers want to do me a theme and then use me as a portfolio site then please do contact me.

The downside is that this is a personal blog and it doesn’t carry advertising (nor do I plan to do so) so I have no means of paying what it would truly be worth. I could afford a donation but that would have to be the sum of it. The other downside is that I don’t know what I want as of yet so if you have any grand ideas, then please shout them out to me.
