Where Tech meets Church

This looks awesome and I want one.
However it isn’t available until Q4 2010 according to the makers (22moo) website and although I’m not a huge gamer I can see where and how this could be of benefit even to me.
Some of its features are (will be):
• Styling to compliment iPod/iPhone with optimized design for ergonomics and comfort
• 2000mAh Lithium-ion Battery for additional power for your iPod touch / iPhone
• LED showing charging state and capacity
• 8-way D-Pad with 6 buttons
• Built-in Stereo speakers
• Highly sensitive omni directional Mic
• 3.5mm audio headphone jack
No idea on price yet but I guess it’ll be in the £15 to £35 range and I’ve submitted my name for a review of one – will see what happens there.

Andrew over @Webstudio13 has written a blog post that, in his own words says:
There is something called “Twitter Etiquette.” There are a number of articles that have outlined what not to do with Twitter, and I have read most of them. Consider this post as a summary of all those pointers.
Some of the points are downright obvious “don’t ignore others” – “don’t defame others” – well at least I think they are; whilst others I just totally disagree with “don’t neglect trending topics”. However the one thing that really got my goat about the article was its presentation of points as accepted facts without any explanation.
Take:
#10. Do not tweet way too less (People forget your existence) and
#42. Do not be reluctant to unfollow people who don’t tweet often

One of the most annoying aspects of Windows 7 (I find) is that lots of software doesn’t autostart or autorun properly. Let me explain with an example … do you use Piriform’s excellent ccleaner?
Do you use it the same way as I do – by right-clicking on my recycle bin?
If so, are you fed up with Windows 7 asking you for permission to run it?
This is the UAC in action.
Then the answer is that you need to run the item as an administrator and Windows 7 gives us have five options to do that – though not all would necessarily work for all situations and some will still ask you to confirm you are the admin or want to run as admin. Read the rest of this entry »

Security of your PC is down to more than just having an Anti-Virus and/or firewall to protect it.
It’s more than ensuring you follow security best practices – see here or here.
It’s more than not clicking random links sent to you by your mates.
It’s more than running WindowsUpdate on a regular basis – for the record I don’t have it set to auto update.
It also includes ensuring your application software is up to date.
But how do you do that? Read the rest of this entry »

I’m an amateur photographer.
I don’t really think my pictures are that good and my wonderful wife thinks some of my pictures are fantastic – so she’s encouraged me to share these. Anyway, I’d love to be much better but that requires money for a decent semi-pro setup ….
So of course I needed a wordpress (what else?) theme that can handle photographs in a simple yet elegant way.
Some of the themes I’ve seen along the way look fabulous but the effort involved just to get a picture in and looking a part of the theme is beyond the time I have. But today I found a blog post listing 26 free wordpress photo gallery themes. I found one I liked and if you need one then you’ll probably find one too.
Enjoy.

I’m being a bit naughty in my continuing use of the spying word as it is one I disagree with, but it is good for the top line interest.
Anyway, in part 1 I put forth my case for ‘spying’ and in part 2 I expounded the benefits that employers, support staff and employees for that matter will gain. In this edition I want to suggest some ways you could actually go about monitoring and my prime criteria is that it has to be cheap or preferably free. Read the rest of this entry »

Pick Me! Pick Me! Little Ollie was certain that he really didn’t matter. After all, he was the smallest of Too Smalls. And like all the Too Smalls of Stiltsville, he desperately wanted a pair of stilts. Surely that was what he needed to fit in, to be important. So every evening at six, he pleaded to get picked.
Then for some reason no one quite knows, Ollie was given a pair of stilts. But it wasn’t as wonderful as he had expected. Birds used him for a perch. Why didn’t he feel any better than he had before?
This is a delightful children’s book by Max Lucado and definitely one to read with your children not too them or for them to read alone – especially younger children.
There is lots that can be drawn out of the story about feelings that people have. Naturally, some Americanisms are included but these are easily explained. There are some wonderful illustrations by Maria Monescillo and again they provide lots to talk about and ensuing discussions from these. There are details that could be missed by younger eyes and that a parent could use to get them more involved in the story line and consequently the morality of the tale as a whole.
All in all the book is an encouraging message for children.
When you feel like you’re the smallest of smalls then Jesus’ love can make you feel like the tallest of talls. A delightful rhyming story about the Too-Smalls who live in the Stiltsville and in particular Ollie, the smallest of Too Smalls. His desire to be involved, to be seen to be like the others ultimately ends up with him getting hurt until he meets Jesus who chose low over high telling him, “Keep your feet on the ground. You matter already.”

I’ve been a Mac fan for years. In fact I probably worked on / repaired Mac’s before I ever worked on and repaired PC’s. The first I ever worked on was an Apple Macintosh – long before it was shortened to just being a “Mac”.
So what has this to do with the deadly sin of lust?
Simply that I am lusting after a modern one. A Macbook Pro or similar will do nicely. I don’t need one but I do want one though I have a problem in that I can’t afford one.
So I’m turning to you folks to suggest ways I can get one. Should I pimp my services in exchange for cash donations towards my Macbook fund? If so, how should I go about it?
Have you any other ideas as to how I can raise the funds?
