2010 A Partial Review

Let me round up this year by reminding myself (and you dear reader) what I set out to achieve in 2010. My end of 2009 resolution was:

To put my Church onto a more professional footing in their dealings with all things technical.

Whilst I’m not 100% happy with where we are now I can confidently say that as a church, we are starting to head in the right direction in terms of tech.

The biggest stumbling block has always been our lack of a formal IT budget. That’s now changed and starting January 2011 we get a monthly budget!

More importantly we, and I have to say we, because I am now more than a me, have started to get the church and in particular the pastor to understand the importance of IT in all that the church does. In short the pastor now understands that he’s been a bottleneck (to use his words) and that the key that got through to him was “just remember, everything you do is impacted by IT”.

So what did I write about in 2010?

January saw a few good posts on:

February:

March:

April:

  • I explained the mystery that is NOH.
  • I gave a shout out to some of my fellow church tech bloggers.
  • And probably the most visited blog post ever of mine about nLite for Windows 7.

May saw me join fellow bloggers from around the world and start working through ProBlogger’s 31 Days to Build a Better Blog. Some excellent posts (even though I say so myself) including data security, how to get started on Twitter and so on – do check them out.

June, along with May were probably my busiest two months at ChurchTechy and most of that due to the ProBlogger course I was undertaking. However June also saw my first ever guest post written by my blogging friend Kevin Weatherby.

I won’t bore you with the whole year but I’ve written reviews; promoted products (for no gain or recompense); discussed being safe on the internet; produced tips; responded to fear mongering and much more besides.

What I do know is that after the excitement and scrutiny that was the 31 Days course I went into a blogging freefall and produced far fewer articles. Part of that was my own choice, part of that was struggling for ideas and part of that was a lack of enthusiasm.

But all that said, I’m still here, still blogging and still plan to be here through 2011.

Will you join me?

Thanks Mike and I appreciate the time you're taking to comment and respond on Twitter – I'm still trying to sort out my RSS feeds so that I can get back to a regular read of my selected blogs.

Of which there are far too many at present!
