It’s been a little while since my last set of Windows 7 tips so it’s high time I threw you a few more.
1. Troubleshooting Tools. You may have spotted the lone “Troubleshooting” link in Control Panel that takes you to the the diagnostic tools. However theer are more tools available – simply lick on the “View all” link in the top left hand corne. This gives a list of local or online tools – simply click and follow the wizard on any you fancy.
2. Problem Recorder. Sticking with tools the Problem Step Recoder (PSR) is great to use at times when you can’t immediately help the requestor (be they family, work or otherwise). Simply type ‘psr’ (without quotes) in your instant serach and launch the recorder – now all they need do is re-create the problem and PSR will record step by step, compile it and zip it ready for emailing and later inspection.
3. Application Whitelisting. By use of AppLocker you can now ‘whitelist’ only the application you want to run or want your children to run. You could potentially use this to replace your anti-virus (though I don’t recommend that) and only ever run the apps you want to run.
