I love my friends.
I especially love one whom has become a bouncing post for ideas and my latest whacky thoughts. For he tolerates all my silliness and my off-the-wall approach to ideas and even better he supplies me with wine whilst we do so. What is even better is that our respective wives have really hit it off and our daughters are best friends and only 6 weeks difference in their ages. Beyond all that, this friend is our Church’s Worship Director and whilst it has taken time, he has come to trust our point of view and even to listen to it.
This is the same friend with whom I was discussing how to “get rid of our Church” as we know it.
We’re still no further forward with the whole process and I eagerly await the outcome of his latest regular chat with the pastor. Even though I get the benefit of feeling refreshed and relaxed at our Church services (the benefits of working shifts can not be discounted) I still very much sense the frustration of the Church as a whole.
We need to move forward, we need to identify and change what isn’t working. If this means being radical and doing it soon, then so be it.
Anyway, thank you Steve. Keep serving, keep stirring things up but above all keep pouring out that wine!
