Back Soon

As you read this I will have finished work 3hrs ago, be on the road and fast asleep and I won’t be back for 9 days. Well at least that’s the good lady’s plan.

I have to go home, have some breakfast (or in my case dinner), hitch up the caravan, have a shower and then climb into the passenger seat and allow my family to lull me to sleep. I’m really looking forward to the break and the time to spend with my family but if I’m 100% honest I’m not looking forward to where we are going.

I have never been one to enjoy conferences. I don’t like the false bonhomie that comes out and this, at least to me, appears to multiply by an order of magnitude when it’s a Christian conference. I used to be Chief Usher at our Church and infamously told the then senior pastor that the only reason I came was because our Church was hosting and organising it. If I’m honest, conferences bore me as I’m a doer.

But, we are off to Faith Camp 08 run by Kingdom Faith which is headed up by Colin Urquhart. What the week away will do though is allow me to recharge my batteries. Allow me to read some books I’ve been meaning to get around too and most importantly to me, as a parent, is to allow my kids to have a fantastic time. I may be a grumpy old git (gog) at times but I recognise when my children enjoy something and I am more than willing to sacrifice my wants to pursue theirs. Plus they get to hear about God from some inspired childrens teachers. I’ll aslo get to catch up with some Church friends that I don’t get to see as often as I like.

What more could I want?

So see you in nine days – though I will have sporadic access to eMail and won’t be able to totally escape the tech support role as our Church is running the bookshop this year … estimated turnover is in excess of £100k (approx $200K)….
