e-Paper

I love Yanko Design and I have it as one of my regular rss feeds – I find if I don’t visit almost daily I can miss some really great ideas.

Recently, one of their designs was for e-paper which instantly set me to thinking about its potential uses. In ourown auditorium one of the biggest problems our musicicans face (and I have two of them in my family so know only too well their issues) is how to make sure they have all the music they need. Then the pastor stands up and ask for them to play a song they haven’t performed for a while and a mad scramble ensues to get the words and music in front of those that need it.

How cool would it be to instead of having the mad scramble, an operator taps a few keys and seconds laterĀ  the music and words appear on the e-paper music stand? Not only that, it would eliminate the various issues of muso’s forgetting to bring their music or the singers being at different sections of a song and so on. Even better if the e-paper could be set for each instrument or preference of musician and instantly put the music into the relevant key?

I know my wife would love it and I’d love it for the gadgety effect. However, in all seriousness we probably do need to investigate some form of electronic way of getting music and words to those on the stage – the trouble is I have no idea what this is called nor where to start.
