Congrats to you in your self discovery of God's place in ministry! I too am called to this particular area of ministry, and have done quite well in it for years. My advice to you~Continue to pray for your leader and ministry, continue to keep your eyes on Jesus (focus in constantly on your duties), and keep excellent concerning service preparation/supplies (places like attendantsupply.com has excellent service supplies for all variations of pulpit service.)
God bless! Keep up the good work!

CindyK,<br

Not sure that pride is the word I would have picked, but in lacking a better option that fits. And yes, the imagery of Joshua and Hur does help - I shall have to see if I can find a similar one for my own office.

Thanks for the comment Cindy. I know that all my life I have believed that I was ever so clever! It was only after I was saved that I realized that nothing I have or do comes from me.I too struggle with pride. And I think the fact that you've written about it publicly is a fantastic way to begin. Your transparency is proof that you want what you say you want, to give all the glory to God.I hung a picture up in my office that helps me to remember where my abilities come from and exactly what my job is around this Church. It's a picture of Joshua and Hur holding up Moses' arms. I am helping to hold up the arms of every Pastor and staff member here at the church so that they can better do their job. It not only helps me to remember my function, and the fact that God placed me here to do this job, but it also gives me a sense of belonging. I am a part of Christ's body. My job is to help prop them up.And with that sense of belonging comes the knowledge of exactly where my gifts come from.I don't know if this helps you, but I did want you to realize that you are not alone. It was a wonderful post. Thank you.

I think this is something that we all struggle with in one way or another. I know that all my life I have believed that I was ever so clever!
